The Process

How Your Piece Reaches You

Step 01

Final Inspection

Every piece is filmed and photographed before packing. You receive a pre-shipment condition report and a video walkthrough before we crate.

Step 02

Bespoke Crating

Furniture is packed in custom-built timber crates with foam bracing, moisture barrier, and anti-scratch lining. Crate dimensions are provided for your records.

Step 03

Export Documentation

We prepare CITES permit (where required), fumigation certificate, commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of origin. All documents sent to you digitally before departure.

Step 04

Sea Freight

Shipment departs from Tanjung Priok (Jakarta) or Tanjung Perak (Surabaya). Full tracking provided. Insurance covers full replacement value in transit.

Step 05

Customs Clearance

We coordinate with a customs broker at your destination port. Duties and import taxes are the buyer's responsibility — we will provide a clear estimate upfront.

Step 06

White-Glove Delivery

Room-of-choice delivery and uncrating at your address. For larger pieces, a two-person installation team can be coordinated at your destination. Crates removed after placement.

Legal & Compliance

Export Documentation

Buying antique teak internationally requires specific documentation. We manage all of it — you will receive a complete export package before your shipment departs.

CITES Permit

Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. Required for Tectona grandis (teak) exports to many countries. We obtain this on your behalf from the Indonesian CITES authority.

Phytosanitary / Fumigation

Required for all timber exports. Confirms the wood is free of pests and meets biosecurity standards at your destination — particularly Australia, New Zealand, and the US.

Certificate of Origin

Issued by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, confirming the piece was made in Indonesia. Required for preferential tariff treatment in several trade agreement countries.

Lacey Act (USA)

For US buyers: all imports of plant materials including timber require Lacey Act declaration. We provide full chain-of-custody documentation confirming legal sourcing.

Import Duties

Customs duties and import taxes are the buyer's responsibility and vary by country. We will provide a realistic estimate for your destination during the order process — no surprises.

Full Insurance

Every shipment is insured for full replacement value from point of collection in our workshop to delivery at your address. Claim process handled entirely by us.

How We Work

Every Shipment Is Handled Individually

Shipping antique teak internationally is not a catalogue process. Piece dimensions, destination country, customs requirements, and local logistics all shape the route and timeline. We do not publish fixed transit times because giving you a number that turns out wrong is worse than having the right conversation first.

Tell us where you are and what you are looking at. We will come back with a specific timeline, accurate shipping cost, import duty estimate, and documentation checklist for your destination — before you commit to anything.

Damaged piece in transit? Every shipment is insured for full replacement value. Contact us within 5 days of delivery with photographs — we handle the claim entirely.
